5 Reasons to visit and enjoy Masham

Markets: There are two markets each week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A weekly market has been held in Masham since 1393 !!

Breweries: Masham boasts two breweries, both making real ales in the traditional way. The Black Sheep Brewery and Theakstons Brewery both have excellent visitor centres and brewery tours. They are also very different so both are worth a visit.

Walks: There are various circular walks around Masham ranging from around 1.1/2 miles to 8 miles and beyond for the more serious walker. They include Discover Masham, a one hour town walk and the Masham Leaves Walk, an easy three-mile walk around a sculpture trail with works by Alan Ayres.

Masham Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally: Held on the third weekend of July, this traditional rally celebrates the country's finest engineering and agricultural heritage together with stalls for the shopaholic, vintage cars and motor bikes, fun fair for the young at heart and various displays in the arena.

Masham Sheep Fair: Masham boasts one of the largest and finest market squares in England, which was famous for sheep sales in bygone days, sometimes with as many as 70,000 sheep sold in a year. The popular Sheep Fair is at the end of September and again includes market stalls, side shows and displays of Barrel making by The Black Sheep Brewery and Sheep Dog Trials.
